History

Our school began as a community of 25 families in 1964. In 1979 we merged with The Norwalk Day Nursery, a facility founded in 1909 to care for the children of parents working outside the home. In 1988 we consolidated our three locations to our current site on Grumman Hill in Wilton, Connecticut, serving children from toddler through sixth grade.
In September 2004, we inaugurated our Montessori Middle School with a charter class of eleven 7th graders. Our Montessori Middle School is currently located at 24 Lois Street in Norwalk. The Montessori School has grown and blossomed through the years and now numbers more than 250 students.
We welcome children from diverse communities, backgrounds, abilities, religions, races and cultures, and enjoy family participation in the life and health of our community. We are a private tuition-based independent school with a comprehensive program of tuition assistance in cases of financial need.
Families come to our school from over 19 area towns in greater Fairfield and Westchester Counties. We remain steadfast to the standards of the Association Montessori Internationale and to our founding philosophy. The Montessori School is accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale, AMI and accredited by the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools, CAIS.
